Arctic Squad is an inclusive ski development club for disabled stand-up skiers who want to take their skiing further. Whether your goal is to become a stronger recreational skier, experience skiing in the mountains or explore racing, we’re here to help you progress. Many adaptive ski programmes do a fantastic job of introducing disabled people to skiing but once you can use the lift, link your turns and confidently make your way down the slope, it can sometimes be difficult to know where to go next. This is where Arctic Squad comes in.
Arctic Squad – Adaptive Ski Development Club has been created to give disabled stand-up skiers opportunities to continue developing. We provide structured coaching in a friendly, supportive environment where you can improve your technique, build confidence, become more independent and discover just how far your skiing could take you. For some members, that simply means becoming a better and more confident skier. For others, it might eventually mean taking your skiing out onto the slalom training or even entering a race.
DEVELOP
Improve your skiing through regular coaching focused on technique, balance, control, confidence and independence.
Whether you’re refining your turns or beginning to explore more advanced skiing including perhaps getting involved in some racing, we’ll help you work towards your own goals.
BELONG
Arctic Squad is about more than skiing.
We want to create a supportive community where adaptive skiers can train, make friends, share experiences and become part of the wider snowsports community.
Once each month we will ski alongside North Wales Snowsports Club, creating opportunities for disabled and non-disabled skiers to train, develop and enjoy the sport together.
ACHIEVE
Where could skiing take you?
That might mean making more confident turns, tackling steeper terrain, skiing independently in the mountains or experiencing slalom and competitive skiing for the first time.
The joint Sunday sessions are an important part of our approach to inclusion, giving disabled and non-disabled skiers opportunities to ski, train and develop together.
Arctic Squad is currently designed for adaptive stand up skiers who can.
✓ Use the ski lift.
✓ Make linked turns on an artificial ski slope.
✓ Ski with an appropriate level of independence/support.
✓ Want to continue developing their skiing.
